This Spooky DIY Halloween Pillow Jazzes Up The Couch For The Trick Or Treating!

Jazzing up the table or the front door or the mantel for Halloween is what we all make sure for the 31st of October. However, we often tend to neglect the couch or the bed when it comes to giving them a spooky makeover. Not anymore, because all it takes is this scary-looking haunted pillow DIY, featuring a mysterious hand shape inside!

DIY Halloween Pillow

Here’s a marvelous YouTube video tutorial shared by Natalia’s Toolbox wherein she creates an illusion of the shape of a ghostly hand protruding out of a pillow from the very scratch, throwing the same on the couch or the bed to shock everyone who visits her on the big day!

It’s surprising that you don’t need more than 4 supplies to pull off the pillow, especially for the kind of out-of-the-box concept it flaunts. To get started right away, gather some air dry clay, a pillow, some liquid latex, and a rolling pin.

The first step is to take the clay and use a rolling pin to flatten it out and until its about 2cm thick. The best part is transferring the spooky palm shape into the clay – all you need to do is take your hand and press it firmly into the flattened clay. Make sure you apply enough pressure to get a fine and deep handprint.

Leave the clay to dry before moving on to the next steps, which would take about a day at the maximum. Once dry, you need to pour some liquid latex into the handprint, while making sure you don’t fill it up in one go – instead add it in small quantities. This avoids the delay in the hardening of the latex as well as turning the clay wet all over again. A stick might come handy in moving the latex around inside the shape.

Natalia adds latex about 5 times in a layer by layer fashion to speed up the process. Once you fill up the shape, allow the latex-loaded handprint to dry, finally heading towards grabbing the shape out. Gentle wiggle the hand out starting with the fingers and then moving towards the palm.

A regular pillow is then transformed into the spookylicious Halloween-perfect version of itself. All you need to do is put the dry latex hand into the pillow, preferably, using the hand that was used to transfer the shape onto the clay.

You might need to move the shape inside the pillow a bit to get the desired position and look, and voila! Your DIY Halloween Pillow is all set to send some chills down the spines of the guests or the trick-or-treaters.

The fact that it’s so easy to build the eerie pillow makes it a must-try this season. In fact, building a whole bunch of such spookies would be even more interesting, placing them at random spots around the house. It’s time for heading to the video right away and check out the detailed visual instructions you need to follow to get everything done!
